Description

Come and join us on this Kimberley to Kakadu Escorted Camping Safari from Broome to Darwin aimed at the over 45 Adventure traveller. A reasonable level of fitness is required to hike into the spectacular gorges and other interesting places we visit. Guests need to be capable of walking up to 5km through bushland and over uneven ground in the Kimberley warmth. The weather will average 28 to 32 degrees every day. Highlights include: Windjana Gorge, Manning Falls, El Questro Station, Mitchells Falls, Kununurra, Bungle Bungle, Fitzroy Crossing and then onto Darwin and Kakadu National Park.
We will utilise hotel accommodation in Broome and Darwin and adventure camping in swags in permanent camps in the Kimberley region plus some glamping in Kakadu.

Itinerary:

Day 1-2: Broome
On arrival into Broome you will be met and transferred to the Seashells Broome for two night accommodation. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the sunset on Cable Beach. Enjoy a day at leisure to explore and enjoy the many activities available in Broome.

Day 3: Windjana Gorge
Met this morning to begin 12 Day Guided Camping Safari. Travelling the Great Northern Highway to the mighty Fitzroy River. Visit the historic Boab Prison Tree prior to embarking along the scenic Gibb River Road to arrive at our first campsite at Windjana Gorge. We will take you to experience a 750m cave walk through Tunnel Creek. As the sun sets at Windjana Gorge an amazing photo opportunity is yours. Windjana Gorge

Day 4: Mt Barnett Station
Explore the ancient Devonian reef system that is Windjana Gorge. Enjoy close range viewing of freshwater crocodiles and birdlife. Follow the Gibb River Road to the rugged King Leopold Range and into cattle country. Walk into breathtaking Bell Gorge for a swim. Arrive at Mt Barnett Station on the banks of the Lower Manning River. Mt Barnett Station

Day 5: Manning Falls
The morning includes a walk into Manning Gorge where you can see ancient Aboriginal rock art and swim in clear pools near the spectacular Manning Falls. Enjoy a pleasant stroll into Galvan’s Gorge. Mt Barnett Station

Day 6: Home Valley Station
Continue east along the Gibb River Road to Home Valley Station. Along the way visit the Gibb River, Durack River and Aboriginal art. Take in the awesome view of the Cockburn Ranges before arriving at Home Valley Station, a beautiful ‘oasis’ in the outback. Home Valley Station

Day 7: El Questro Station
Today we make our way along the Gibb River Road to the famous El Questro Station. Cross the Pentecost River and explore the stunning Emma Gorge where a refreshing swim awaits. The afternoon is yours to relax and explore the iconic El Questro township or enjoy the optional Champagne Chamberlain Cruise. El Questro Station

Day 8: El Questro Gorge
Soak your traveller body in thermal, crystal clear water at Zebedee Hot Springs. Explore the natural beauty of the fern lined El Questro Gorge. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon and magical sunset at Pigeon Hole Lookout. El Questro Station

Day 9: Mitchell Falls
Depart El Questro via an optional scenic flight to explore Mitchell Falls or discover Kalumburu Indigenous Community. Either option reveals ancient Indigenous art and experiences. Alternatively, enjoy a relaxed morning and short drive to Kununurra, a unique town developed around the Ord River Scheme, Diversion Dam and agriculture. Day 10: Kununurra
Today is your day to relax and explore Kununurra & itsnatural wonders. Kununurra

Day 11: Purnululu National Park
Travel to the World Heritage Listed, Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles). You may
consider participating in a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience of an optional helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles. Bungle Bungle Station.

Day 12: Bungle Bungles
The track into Purnululu National Park is four-wheel drive only. Our slow but scenic trip is the perfect approach to the wonder of the Bungle Bungles. The Domes Walk, Piccaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm are on the ‘list’. We are in the midst of the Bungle Bungles and there is almost too much to see and do. Bungle Bungle Station.

Day 13: Fitzroy Crossing
Head south along the Great Northern Highway and through some more incredible Kimberley landscapes. We travel to Halls Creek and a visit to the China Wall. Enjoy your final night camped by a billabong at an exclusive campsite on a working cattle station. Sleep under a billion stars and wake to the sounds of the outback. Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 14: Broome
The perfect start to our last day is a complimentary scenic river cruise exploring Geike Gorge. View spectacular multi-coloured 30 metre high cliffs carved by the floodwaters of the Fitzroy River through the Devonian fossil reef. Our final destination is lovely, tropical Broome for an overnight at Seashells Broome.

Day 15 : Darwin
For those leaving us today we say Goodbye during our airport transfer.
For those extending onto Kakadu, board your flight to Darwin. (not included)
On arrival met and transferred to The Oaks Darwin for overnight. Dinner own expense.

Day 16: Kakadu
Depart by road along the Arnhem Highway to Kakadu National Park for two night of Glamping at Cooinda Lodge. Afternoon cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong. Our local guide will spot saltwater crocodiles and colourful birdlife, including sea eagles, brolgas and tiny brilliantly-hued kingfishers

Day 17: Kakadu
Today we take an exclusive off-road adventure to visit the waterfalls, swimming holes and escarpments of Kakadu. During the dry season the tour goes off-road, winding through savannah woodland to the edge of the Arnhem Land Escarpment. We spend a full day exploring some of the highlights of Kakadu in a guided 4WD tour. Visit locations such as Motorcar Falls, Boulder Creek, Gubara Rock Pools, Ikoymarrwa Rock Pool, Maguk Gorge or Gunlom Falls. Back to the lodge for overnight

Day 18: Darwin
Time this morning for an optional early morning cruise before we head back to Darwin and say goodbye.
