First trip overseas was to compete in an International sporting competition at 16 years old in Israel. Caught the travel bug immediately and backpacked through Europe in my late teens I would later meet my future husband in Israel and lived there for a year when we were married. I have since been back to Israel several times.
We moved to the US in 1983, and as I was living so far from home, I thought the obvious choice for a career path was in the Travel Industry.
I became a Travel Consultant in 1984 until I moved back to Australia in 1995. I had the opportunity to take a number of short breaks to Europe, Caribbean, Florida (lots of Disney holidays in Orlando), New Orleans and New York. My long holidays were always spent coming home to visit family and friends, with occasional quick stops in Los Angeles or Honolulu.
When I returned to Australia in 1995, I had 4 children ranging in age from 0-8, and I moved to the Central Coast to run a restaurant for my parents. I am single now and I didn't return to travel until 2007, when I started with St Ives Travel. It has been a massive learning curve being a retail travel agent in another part of the world.
I had the opportunity to take a cruise to New Zealand soon after I started working here. I am now an accredited cruise consultant and have found a real passion for selling cruises. I am continually taking courses to improve my knowledge of the cruise industry, which is changing by the minute. with over 600 cruises continually operating around the world
I was very lucky to experience northern Chile and Peru last year, and this has added to my overall knowledge.
Every day I learn something new about travel, and this will never stop.
