Genevieve WestgarthIt is hard to believe that it was over 27 years ago that I set off for my first trip backpacking around Europe. On returning to Australia the thought of going back to a regular office job was too daunting and so my career as a Travel Consultant began. My backpacking days are well behind me now and you are more likely to find me on my holidays cruising in luxury somewhere in the Pacific.Although I have travelled extensively around Europe, Asia, the USA and South America I am most at peace sitting back relaxing on holidays in a warm climate by a pool, a cocktail in hand with the agenda to do nothing but relax. With my love of Pacific destinations such as; Fiji, Tahiti, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and Hawaii it is easy to understand how I became an accredited Cruise Consultant and Club Med Specialist. Whether planning a romantic escape or a family holiday there are so many ways to experience the Pacific Islands, the hardest part is deciding how to fit it all in. Hawaii is my favourite destination, the laid back culture, the friendly service and the stunning beauty of the island is captivating and I find myself returning to it time and time again. I recommend to clients visiting Hawaii, to take a kayaking tour with the turtles off Maui and taste the sumptuous local specialty of Alaskan Crab Claws. Indulging in a ‘Volcano’ cocktail by the pool and soaking up the essence of the tropics to me is what holidaying in Hawaii is all about. Cruising is the best way to experience a variety of amazing destinations. I like sharing my knowledge of cruising with clients and making them aware of the range of options a cruising holiday can provide. A recent client who booked their first cruising holiday to the Mediterranean returned home to tell me of their fantastic experience and to book another cruise holiday there and then. The ‘cruising converts’ movement has definitely begun with endless options designed to surprise, inspire, pamper and spoil you. After 12 years with St Ives Travel there is not one trip that I have planned that has been the same. I pride myself on the expertise I have gained working in this industry. I enjoy helping my clients book their holidays, from the initial decision of where to go, through to the planning and detail of their trip. We work closely with our suppliers all around the world to ensure clients have the best ‘on the ground’ guides and tours with efficient, local and professional service. It is important to me that I meet the expectations of my clients. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than a client that comes back with a handful of photographs and a lifetime of fantastic memories. |
